MARCH 23rd 2010: When Formula One came to Australia in 1985 it set up home in Adelaide. However, ex-racer-turned-entrepreneur Bob Jane wanted a race in Melbourne. He created a huge "thunderdome" and invented the AUSCAR series, bringing NASCAR action to Australia.
Bahrain GP
MARCH 13th 2010: The Bahrain International Circuit will be a challenging one for the drivers. The 5.411-kilometre track comprises five left and seven right hand corners and an impressive 1.090-kilometre start-finish straight.
Belgian GP
AUGUST 22nd 2010: Belgiums Spa-Francorchamps circuit is among the most historic on the Formula One calendar, having hosted a (non-championship) Grand Prix as long ago as 1924.
Brazilian GP
DECEMBER 7th 2010: In 1938 a huge plot of land was bought in Sao Paulo by two local property developers who intended to build a large housing development. It soon became clear, however, that one part of the land was not suitable for housing and so they decided to build a racing circuit instead. Sao Paulo grew at an incredible speed though and soon the circuit was surrounded by houses.
British GP
JULY 11th 2010: Like so many of Englands racing circuits, Silverstone started life as an aerodrome. When the Second World War ended in 1945, Englands other two circuits, Donington Park and the legendary Brooklands, had fallen into disrepair.
Canadian GP
JUNE 13th 2010: In the 1960s the rivalry between French and English speaking Canada meant that the countrys Grand Prix had two homes: Mosport Park one year and Mont-Tremblant the next. By 1970, however, Mont-Tremblant was deemed too dangerous and the race moved full time to Mosport Park.

European GP
JUNE 27th 2010: The original Nurburgring, the Nordschleife, ran for an awe-inspiring 22.5 kilometres (14 miles). It was so long and so complicated that drivers simply could not remember a racing line. The Nurburgring was, in fact, two circuits: the Nordschleife and the Sudschleife. In total they had an amazing 172 corners.
German GP
JULY 25th 2010: The modern circuit has a mix of high and low-speed corners with limited overtaking possibilities, putting a premium on qualifying and fast pit stops. In 2002 the Mercedes Arena was added and it extended the circuit by almost half a kilometre

OCTOBER 3rd 2010: One of the greatest tracks used in Formula One today, Japans Suzuka circuit is a massive test of car and driver ability. Built by Honda as a test facility in 1962, the track was designed by Dutchman John Hugenholz, the Hermann Tilke of his day. A huge theme park was also constructed at the track, including the famous big wheel which dominates the Suzuka skyline.
Malaysian GP
